Rolling green hills, vineyards as far as the eye can see, fields of sunflowers, cobblestone streets with old stone buildings…Tuscany embodies all that is romantic about Italy—from the beautiful medieval villages untouched by time, to the farmhouses and vineyards that dot the warm countryside. People come here not only for beauty and culture, though. Tuscan food and wine are known the world over and provide a very strong draw to the region as well.
Within the region of Tuscany there are many small cities worth a visit. Arguably the most famous, Florence epitomizes Italian beauty, art, architecture and culture. From the iconic, massive red-tiled Duomo, to the bustling chaos on the Ponte Vecchio, to the statue of David, Florence’s artistic and architectural accomplishments are a must see for anyone wishing to immerse themselves in the Renaissance. Of course, a visit to Florence would not be complete without tasting the legendary bistecca fiorentina, a bowl of pappa al pomodoro or ribollita and a nice bottle of Chianti or Brunello.
