ITALIAN VACATION PLANNING BY INTEREST
Not sure which city or region to visit? Is there a specific purpose to your trip?
Are there any particular interests you’d like to explore? Here are a few ideas to get you started.
Italians are famous for many things and their food and wine certainly rank at the top of any list. A trip to Italy would not be complete without experiencing at least one typical long, relaxed, multi-course meal, washed down with a carafe (or two!) of the local house wine; a trip to a small vineyard where the proud proprietor will explain the labor of love that is creating some of the world’s best wines, followed of course, by a tasting of said wines. And then there is gelato three times per day because…well, because why not?
For the serious foodies and wine lovers, an entire vacation can be crafted so as to sample all the specialties that different cities or regions have to offer. Seeing the sights can certainly be arranged also, or the food and wine can be destinations all their own.
I can’t think of a better way to start your married life together than in the most romantic country there is. I honeymooned in Italy after my fairytale wedding in a Tuscan castle and it’s true that in Italy romance can be found around every corner. Whether you just want to relax on a beach, or take in some sights, the possibilities are endless. Stroll hand in hand along ancient cobblestone streets while eating a gelato. Gaze upon renaissance beauties in a museum. Explore ancient ruins in the midst of a bustling metropolis. Lay in the sun on a black pebble beach under an umbrella while sipping a cold limonata. Whatever your vision of a perfect honeymoon is, Italy is the perfect place to make it a reality.
From art to fashion to architecture to music…few countries afford you the opportunity to experience the old and the new as well as Italy does, or with such flare. Whether you revel in ancient times, or prefer the masters of the Renaissance, or enjoy listening to opera while sipping your cappuccino, many of Italy’s cities abound in opportunities to explore all that is unique to this culturally and historically rich country. The various museums, ancient ruins, gardens and old palazzos are but a few examples of the many venues that will allow you to immerse yourself in both ancient and modern Italy.
There are no better memories than those created while traveling with your family. The shared experiences are the fabric of life long bonds. It may be daunting to travel with children, but with some knowledge and preparation it can easily be done and the rewards are well worth the time and effort. The look on my daughter’s face when she had her first taste of gelato, my son’s laughter while being wheeled around the airport, the sense of adventure as we explored narrow cobblestone streets to find a restaurant…these are the real experiences that make a trip memorable.
Having first hand experience with family vacations, I can help you tackle the necessary preparations so that you, too, can create those priceless memories that you’ll be revisiting for years to come.
