Family vacations are what I look forward to the most in life! Once we get over the initial insanity of traveling with young kids - packing enough clothes, toys, books, gear, etc. - we are able to enjoy a lot of family time together and create the memories that will last a lifetime!
Only a few days stand between me and this year's Italian Extravaganza. This year, due to logistical issues, we will be going for 3 weeks instead of the usual 5. Despite the shorter amount of time than usual, I think we might actually outdo ourselves this year! We are planning on seeing a lot, eating a lot and drinking a lot. I am looking forward to sharing all of my experiences with you and I hope that you will follow me during this amazing 2017 Italian Extravaganza!
The journey will start in Rome. My daughter is super excited about our Colosseum treasure hunt and her enrollment in Gladiator School! And the walking food tour during which she will be eating 2 of her favorite foods - pizza and gelato - is high on her list. To experience the world through a seven-year-old's eyes is a true privilege!
We'll then make our way home to Rionero, this year only for 1 week. This is always the part of the trip I get most excited about! I still have my long list of towns to explore, left over from last year. Hopefully we will be able to check a few more off the list this year.
Finally, we will end our journey with a week on the coast of Lazio, relaxing by the pool after our daytime wanderings through amazing, small medieval towns, where we plan on soaking in all of the local culture and gastronomical delights!
As in years past, I will be blogging live from Italy whenever the inspiration hits (which I suspect will be often!). I will also be posting tons of pictures and hope that you will enjoy experiencing Italy through my family's eyes. I truly hope to inspire everyone to plan their own Italian Extravaganza and I hope to help you make it a reality!
