Happy Birthday Roma!

Fontana di Trevi, Rome.

Fontana di Trevi, Rome.

This week marked the 2769th birthday of one of my favorite cities in the world...Rome. It truly is the eternal city, so steeped in history, culture and charm. There is so much to see and do in Rome, something truly for everyone. Whether you are an ancient history buff, passionate about religion, a fashionista or a gourmand, Rome is the place to be.

Years ago I spent a couple of months in Rome.  Strolling through her many beautiful neighborhoods, I was always struck with an utter sense of awe when, at every turn, I would see something ancient that was part of the living city landscape. It truly puts your existence into perspective, making you realize that we are all just a small part of a greater, more ancient whole.

I have been back many times since then and the antiquity is just one of the many things I love about this city. There is also art, architecture and fashion everywhere you look...you could, literally, never get bored visiting Rome! But I would be remiss if I also didn't mention one of the things I love most about Rome...the cuisine! The food, with its many traditions and cultural influences, is a reason to visit in its own right!

So I would like to take this opportunity to say Buon Compleanno Roma! You are a beautiful, vibrant, amazing city and I can't wait to see you again soon.

Have you ever been to Rome? Now is as good a time as any to go, whether it's your first or tenth visit. So start packing...

Arrivederci,

Teresa
